AuthorHouse wishes a Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays to our entire author and reader community!
For our final author blog of 2017, we present the conclusion of our interview with Nancy Nason Guss. Nancy is the self-published author of The Spirit of the Tree and Other Back Yard Tales: Connecting to Creation, and we appreciate her taking the time to talk with Author’s Digest.
The first two parts of this feature can be found in our Author Blogs section, and we recommend checking them out!
Nancy, what inspired you to write your book and how long did it take you to finish it?
I have written many stories throughout my life. These were written during my morning meditations and inspired by the visiting critters, memories, sunrises, and my beautiful backyard garden. After I retired, I had more time to spend in my garden, and I found myself so inspired that I just had to write. I’ve also been troubled by Earth’s people being so divided. I wrote my little stories to bring unity by providing a platform for all people to share the wonders of this incredible existence.
It took about a year to finish the manuscript itself; next I found or created art work or photographs to complement the stories. AuthorHouse then helped me through every step in my publishing journey.
What’s the one message you’d like to convey to readers through your book?
I hope that my little stories help every reader reconnect to creation, creator, and each other. We must notice precious times so that when times do get tough–and they will–we can recall these happy times, work together, and feel blessed. We must help our children do the same.
Fear not! When going with assisted self-publishing like AuthorHouse, one is going with a company that has an organized system that works. They were quite nurturing and helpful throughout every phase of the book’s production.
What are you working on next?
I’ve written and have ideas for at least 20 more stories. Right now, I’m writing a sequel to The Spirit of the Tree and Other Backyard Tales. Some of the characters from the first book will be in the sequels as well.
Are there any events or promotions planned for your book?
Yes, I had a signing event in Land O’ Lakes during early December. I’m also putting together a travel and speaking tour through the southeastern United States. If anyone would like to be a part of our schedule for talks and signings, I can be reached through my email address (firstname.lastname@example.org), or you can send me a message through my author Facebook page: Nancy Nason Guss, Author.
Thank you very much for your time and insight, Nancy, and best of luck with your events and your next book! We look forward to hearing from you again. Readers, The Spirit of the Tree and Other Back Yard Tales, is available at Amazon and the AuthorHouse Bookstore.
